Leather or Not
Deciding to use natural leather? Or is faux the way to go?
Of course natural leather is more expensive, but there are other things to consider…
It is important to understand that leather is a natural product. Each hide will vary in size and appearance, while faux leather is consistent in color and pattern. You should consider the size of your project. Due to the size of hide, you will have more seams with natural leather. Faux will cover larger areas with fewer seams. It’s also easier to clean and UV fade resistant. Faux requires no maintanance, but does not develop the same luster and patina as real leather. Natural leather is also more breathable.
