JCW Brings “The Modern Home” to the OC!
On May 15th, Judy’s Custom Workroom was thrilled to play host to the monthly general meeting of the Orange County chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID).
Playing to a full house, our panel presentation on “The Modern Home” shared how to work automation and design into a design practice in addition to answering some of the most popular questions designers have about what is fast becoming a growing market opportunity!
So “thank you” to everyone who attended, and to Decor Electic, Lightopia, and SlewHouse for joining us on this great evening!
JCW at Student Career Day!
We are always excited to have students and classes come in from the local design schools to meet us, tour our library and workroom, and learn more about the custom furniture process. We are happy to answer questions- we know that window treatments especially can get tricky with yardage, hardware, and motorization, so we are here to help!
Judy’s Custom Workroom recently participated in ASID Orange
County’s Student Career Day at the
Laguna Design Center. We partnered up
with Kravet to give group presentations
throughout the day, about how to work hand
in hand with a custom workroom. There were about 200 students who from all over OC, so it was great to meet tomorrow’s talent!

Designer Runway Results
The Orange County ASID Designer Runway was a success! We were blown away with what all the teams came up with. So creative!
Our team was led by Anita Jacobi and included Judy’s Custom Workroom’s Elizabeth Bradford (model), Lupe Ortiz, and artist Georgeana Ireland. We had to come up with a concept beforehand, but we had no idea what colors, patterns, or types of fabrics we would be given to work with (in just 90 minutes!) until we got to the design center. We found inspiration in Ke$ha and hoped to be given edgy modern fabrics. Of course we were given beautiful feminine fabrics from Kravet, so it was even more of a challenge creating a rebellious”Ke$ha” look!
TEAM CONCEPT: “Our inspiration came from the music artist Ke$ha and her song ‘We R Who We R’. Ke$ha’s rebellious grungy-chic flare shows us there are no rules when it comes to fashion. Her song is all about being confident with your personal style and making a statement. You are who you are, so own it!”
For our first time participating, we were pretty proud of ourselves. We had a great time and thank all the sponsors, volunteers, celebrity judges, and those who came out to support Working Wardrobes. If you did not make it this year, you will have to attend next year’s event! So much fun!
